Trying to find a Mayflower line for membership with the General Society of Mayflower Descendants (GSMD)? Do you think you have a line, but want an expert to take a look? If so, we have partnered with GSMD to help you take the first steps! First, you work alongside one of our expert genealogists, where you will observe, learn, and discuss various research methodologies to trace your Mayflower ancestry. This session can be scheduled virtually as a (2) hour or (4) hour meeting, while in-person sessions are scheduled as a (3) hour or (5) hour meeting. We are currently scheduling these sessions in-person at our American Ancestors-NEHGS Research Center or via Zoom video conferencing platform. Before meeting with your expert genealogist, you are encouraged to share any family information prior to your appointment.
If we determine a possible Mayflower line* the second step will be to pass your information to the General Society of Mayflower Descendants, who will then conduct a Mayflower Lineage Match. The purpose of the Mayflower Lineage Match service is to determine which portion of your Mayflower ancestry has already been documented in a previously approved application. This will make your interest in membership known to the organization and provide you with the information necessary to get your application process started.
After comparing your proposed lineage to GSMD's vast database of previously approved lineages, a detailed report of findings, along with instructions on how to proceed with the GSMD membership process, will be included.
*If we are unable to determine the possibility of a Mayflower line we will provide you a partial refund ($75) for the Mayflower Lineage Match portion of the package .
We are currently scheduling these sessions in-person at our NEHGS Library or via Zoom video conferencing platform.
